With the arrival of mackerel this last week we took a look for some tope ,Three males were boated by the St Neots Trio on the Jenna-d skippered by Dave Weaving from West Mersea The fish were tagged and returned .Biggest fish fell to Tony Whiteley 49lbs The second 47lbs was caught by Jim Case. the third caught by Tony Boulton was weighed in at 42lbs .All fish were taken in deep water on fresh mackerel baits.

Sunday 12/6/05 Atrocious conditions didn't stop Sundays party from getting among the fish over 20 smooth hounds were boated with the biggest hound of 14lbs was caught by Garry Huges of West Mersea on the Mersea based Jenna-d skippered by Dave Weaving This came on hermit crab in deep water. conditions worsened so an inshore mark was sought this was rewarded with two skate and dog fish .The biggest skate a female of 10.5lbs was caught by Mel Jarmen on Fresh Mackerel bait.
