week ending 6/8/2006 |
What a week? Cancelled Monday,Tues, and wed god dam weather. Friday looked like a gap and we went for it. I was a bit concerned for one of my party[Ian Wilson] renowned for being a chucker ?His reputation has been restored not only did he cope with the unpleasant conditions he caught the biggest hound of the day. his biggest was 18.5lbs followed by one of 16lbs and one of 12lbs followed by several smaller fish. But top dog of the day was 8 year old Ashley Horwood of Hockley Essex. Ashley was with his dad Geoff and struggled with his first and biggest hound of 14lbs 2oz.He did need a hand but coped very well with the conditions. The fishing had certainly improved possibly the fish had been put off by the rather hot conditions lately. Saturday saw a new party Lee from Grays and friends .We struggled, to start with we dropped the first 5 fish, two with hooks straightened and one bust up and the others just dropped the baits THESE WERE GOOD FISH but sadly we failed to get them on board. The tide died so we ventured east best fish we could managed a respectable 10lbs plus a few smaller ones.At least the party got a taste of WHAT LIVES BENEATH. Sunday saw a regular bunch from Rainham club. We started where we finished the day before eHpUD4yxeHpUD4yxmainwebsite_htmland it was worth it!several doubles biggest going to Steve Roberts a large female starry of 18lbs followed by another of 12lbs.Garry Truman had a nice fish of 14lbs and the rest of the party all caught large fish , Lionel was pleased to be reunited with his reels[dropped them over the side last trip and we dived for them next day] many doubles or around that size were also boated. So although we got off to a bad start weather wise we came up trumps in the end .Next few weeks look quite busy lets hope weather and fish oblige cheers Dave Weaving.
