Week Ending 10/12/2006

Where can we start this week?  Yet another challenging week and I don't think I have to elaborate why we have all faced it just opening the door and its still not from the North.

Wednesday was our first day out, one eye on the weather strong winds, help?  Five anglers, two regulars Patrick and Will from Bures, fortunately against the odds we managed to find a reasonable days fishing in the River,All on board had codling biggest approx 5lbs and realistically we had more cod/codling than whiting by any standards we had a good day, certainly would not even have got out anywhere else and I think the total was about 25 codling.  Thursday well They have been with me before and have this ability to come when the weather is at its worst .I phoned them at 6am and tried to deter them but no stopping Rob (the cod) Aylot.  I met them at the jetty and still there was no deterring them.  Obviously it was the river, where else?8/9 hire rods the day started off ok Well it was only force 7 south west, several whiting came aboard not so many codling as the previous day.  About 12.30 the sky went black and increased to force 9,we came out of the middle of the river and made for the south shore hail stones like golf balls but still my merry men fished.considering the day they all caught, all enjoyed themselves and surprisingly enough I landed with the same amount of anglers.

Saturday, what's happened the wind dropped, well nearly we headed East,a mixed bunch, still not fit to go through so fished the Wallet,we started ok but not hectic so moved off slightly deeper, the summer fishing that day was great I think it was 9 skate in total to 10lbs with a couple more very close to that weight, some codling, dog fish, a dab and quite a few whiting but it is only December?

Sunday we went back to the same mark but surprising as it might seem the weather would not allow us to stay, few dog fish, dabs whiting and back to the jolly old river, we topped up with quite a few whiting ,and finished the day with a few codling although nothing compared to Wednesday. only a couple of weeks to go I finish on the 3rd Jan, I need more for that day and the boat is empty on 27th Dec, 30th, 31st and 1st Jan so if any one wants a last one this year give me a ring ,individuals welcome cheers Dave Weaving.
