Weekending 10/6/2007

what a terrible week?BUT NOT FOR US !!!!! Good weather ,bad weather we've had the lot but we have also had good fishing, not a bad day in site.

WEDNESDAY 6TH 6 Individuals the weather as usual rough but we opted to go offshore when we arrived the tide was coming up to slack water so we opted to try feathers for a few bass the results were good in 6 drifts we boated about 40 bass retaining about a dozen, as soon as the tide started we moved north to our chosen position the results were several good double figure hounds and one skate, one angler did suffer the rough weather and after the bass was unable to partake in the sport with the hounds.only consolation was he did have the biggest bass.

THURSDAY 7TH Nick Lambert booked the boat with four anglers a regular annual customer he did yet again manage the bad weather, again due to the nature of the tide and the previous days sport we started with the feathers.  Again bass, bass, bass topped up with 30 then it was off to the hounds and it was again good with several double figure hounds being boated, One angler learnt the hard way to catch hounds when his rod was pulled over the side. Although I do always emphasize how this can happen I guarantee you at least two / three rods are lost each year. Martin was the luckiest man of the day, not only did we raise the anchor chase after and retrieve the rod the fish a nine pound hound was still attached and fell off into the boat when lifted in.

FRIDAY 8TH Steve flint and party after a hearty Breakfast at the waterfront cafe it was off to the same marks and again the same results.  Ten bass, several good hounds some doubles, small tope, dog fish and skate weather certainly calmer than the two previous days but still a good swell but I think we succeeded and all the anglers had a good mixed bag.including mackerel.

SATURDAY 9TH dare I?yes the elusive tope and unusual good weather we decided to try,It has been a bit patchy so far with many smaller fish showing up than normal but we went the distance, not great but not a failure biggest tope that day was to Lindon Smoker a male of 34lbs,Chris miller had one of 20lbs and a few smaller fish were boated.  Best Bass 7lbs to Damien ,four skate and dog fish so not a failure and mackerel

SUNDAY 10th and party 10 anglers all ready for the hounds and with some newcomers we all managed some good hounds and a few small tope just for the measure, skate were elusive but in all honesty we didn't really pursue them.best part of the day for all we found some birds working near the spitway. It was bedlam, mackerel I haven't come across such a big shoal for years there was fish every where we must have filled two fish boxes. All who have been in that position can realize what its like.  Great fun.
