Well what an improvement, still haven't hit the tope.{as said previously been a bit early and I think those that have gone have shot their bolt water temperature when diving last week 12 degrees needs to come up to about 16 degrees ] but plenty of other species .Saturday we welcomed the baker boys back on board.Tried going West in search of hounds [and shelter 4/5 south easterly}one casualty .They weren't big by our standards or thick on the ground but we captured a few up to 11lbs the rest was made up of skate dog fish and small tope .Sunday all change including weather regular party with a guest. First time angling Elaine Leader, now she realizes what its all about and how it gets the adrenaline going Elain had her first and biggest fish a hound of 11lbs 2oz. The rest of the catch was made up of skate about 15 to 12lbs ,dog fish and a couple of dabs . I figure I lost out ?the deal was we went and had a go at feathering ,They kept the bass and I kept the mackerel well I lost out!!! approximately 100 bass were taken to 4.5lbs ,about 30 were kept and the rest were returned ,we could have kept on them for ages the sounder was blotted out but we had more than enough but I didn't see one mackerel!!!!The party never complained .Monday we made an early start ,the intention of going after tope ,The anglers changed their minds and opted for basics. We had 20 skate to 11lbs ,one cod of 4.5lbs[some smaller ones ,a dab about six bass we kept, smooth hounds and one tope [small] and of course dog fish. well off till Friday so lets see what the weather and fishing brings next week ?busy week and thinking about going after the tope The water is certainly clear now and next week I'm diving at least one day .cheers Dave Weaving. To anyone who has booked bring feathers!!!!!
