week ending 17/12/2006 |
Doesn't look like I'll be ending 2006 on a high but looK through the latest catches and I think its going to be a tough year for us to beat next year but that's the challenge, that's fishing .we cancelled two trips this week due to the wind, with the small tides we would have swung about fishless for two long so hopefully we can have another go this week .It will be the last chance for 2006. Saturday slightly better conditions we tried to get offshore. It was still south westerly and was a bit lumpy till the ebb.All started off well with three skate almost straight away.We topped up with 5 skate, three codling ,whiting ,dabs and dog fish.It was the dog fish that killed it .There are so many its a job to fish through them and when you put the effort in for better species it can be frustrating Sunday same really,we went off Clacton ,the wind and previous day saw to that, Started off very slow due mainly to the lack of tide we picked up a few codling but in all honesty although some people might have kept them they were returned, there's anglers and danglers and what we all want to see is a better run of fish and taking these smaller legal size fish helps no one,we also had skate ,dabs, whiting and Dog fish although North of the gunfleet sands inside the Wallet the dog fish don't cause the sort of problems they do offshore. Lets see what occurs this week judging by the variety and number of birds working offshore it wont be long before we see the influx of sprats that will cause more havoc than the weather I'm out the water Jan/Feb back in and fishing 24th Feb lets hope we've timed it right cheers Dave Weaving.
