week ending 19/11/2006

Not much to report this week .We have only been out saturday and Sunday. Both days in the river Saturday it was more the wind that kept us inside ,Strong to gale South West again, flood tide was uncomfortable,we had a lot of whiting and a few codling but when the tide came to ebb I gave my party the option and we decided to try East.We sat in the deep water for three whiting It was not comfortable or productive so moved in off Jaywick and fished the priory.I now know why we've stayed in the river we caught a lot of cod/codling but they were all small and undersized,I suppose there is always the chance There was reportedly one cod of 18lbs caught on a private boat but afraid to say its not the norm.We had a bass of 14lbs 2oz November last year in the river but that's fishing No saying what's gonna turn up where .Sundays party from Ipswich opted for the river as they were fishing a contest and wanted numbers. They certainly got that with whiting in excess of 160 fish ,two pouting.two dabs and what could have been a great white.????anyway I'll leave you all to mull that one over ,study the pictures and wonder???.We are out a couple of times this week Wed and thursday, wednesday its a police contest ,Thursday its individuals we could have a couple of spaces. This year I am here for christmas /new year so if any one wants a trip out that week please contact me .January /Feb. not operating mainly due to the weather and prospects and my age and holiday requirements cheers dave weaving
