week ending 22/4/2007 |
Another week and hopefully no disappointed customers?Things seem to be changing quite quickly, the weather has certainly been a bonus this week First trip this week Tuesday Steve Easter from Braintree +3 ,Charlie Peck from Norwich and Ben from Southend,I decided on the inshore marks due to the tide size and It proved about right ,nothing massive but we managed a few I think we managed about 14 Skate in total of course the dog fish, and a few whiting and one small bass about 4lbs. Thursday Father ,son and friend ,Andy from Yarmouth, weather looked good so we tried something different.3 bass ,keepers not a bad start,South of the Gunfleets,we then moved North ,few skate and dog fish and a couple of big whiting ,tide was a bit strong so took a gamble and tried another mark I fancied Closer in .It Worked Son Ross Lawrence aged 14 experienced his first skate I think he enjoyed the day both fishing and weather were great. Saturday Railway Ray,should have been 10 but turned out six, decided North of the Gunfleets and first fish to Ray ,nice cod about 4lbsThis was followed by quite a few skate ,dog fish and whiting again we caught about 9 skate all were returned which was good .I know some of the other boats struggled so we did ok. Sunday local angler Chick and motley crew.Great weather so I fancied something different off we went well south, total about 15 skate, biggest about 12lbs female returned caught bye John Alexander a few males were kept and quite a few of the skate were on the small side,One dab, whiting ,small codling ,DOGFISH, and lots of small hounds,One bit of bad news Belgium Catamaran netter with crew of four stationed near Burrow 2 .Sorry but stick your grandfather rights and kick them out, while our commercial boats are restricted to skate as a bye catch these guys are over here taking our fish,The restrictions placed on our fishermen have led to a lot more skate getting through for the anglers hopefully they only take the bare minimum and all this can only help to restock the pond. This week not a lot doing but out Thursday, only two anglers so far but anyone wanting to join phone asap.I have a hunch this week so If you want to join me bring feathers .weather permitting and no obvious glory hunters fishing near bye and of course paying customers we might be able to light the touch paper this week the signs look good, we might spring a few surprises?let you know next week
