week ending 26/9/06

apologies for no pictures last week, the good catches can only be left for the imagination. To make up for it this weeks anglers HAVE put in a special effort.Like Thursday force 6 South Easterly five people from the Braintree area.Steve Easter said to me he would like to catch a bass ?well I would have liked the bass he caught .it beat this years previous 13lbs 8oz by Paul Coupin. The fish weighed in at an incredible 15lbs.Brilliant condition the fish was weighed photo ed and returned using our customary hook in the top lip and hung in the tide till it recovered. obviously this report has gone to all the papers ect and Steve will get his catch and release and maybe something else to encourage others anglers to do the same and release these bigger fish .wasn't much else on that trip but a fish like that makes it worth it. Friday I got the fatal phone call 8.30 Thursday night saying 2/3 anglers could not make the Friday?bit short notice this now left me having to go with three people. It was flat calm and the three all had fish including whiting and a codling and I do believe we lost another good bass.I am not a lover of braid its not very unforgiving. It might be ok on wrecks where you are fishing tight lines but uptide bottom fishing with a big loop in the line I cant see any advantage,If a good fish makes a last dash there is no stretch in the line and good fish can be lost. One of Fridays anglers saw his November bass of 14lbs 2oz being beaten by the previous days fish.Saturday off we went 6.5 anglers well six adults and one child. Not Brilliant but we finished the day with about 12 skate some retained ,dog fish, small tope ,one dab, couple of whiting and about 4 large hounds up to 9lbs.Biggest skate was 9.5lbs.Sunday tried the same marks again but few small skate so we moved East.Chris miller took the biggest skate and £10.00 off Wayne for the biggest fish weighed and returned ,just a tadge under 14lbs,we had about 10 skate and Mr Miller lost the battle with one after quite a struggle.we also had one eel,DOG FISH ,and several hounds around the 8/9lbs mark ,and dare I say it a bass, Al caught this beautyjust a baby 9lbs unfortunately it didn't recover and went for the pot.and before anyone asks NO IT WAS BLOODY ROUGH!!!!!!!!! Anyway enjoy the pics I'm sure the anglers enjoyed catching them cheers Dave Weaving

WE HAVE A SATURDAY CANCELATION FOR OCT 7TH SATURDAY FULL BOAT
