27/11/05Heading here

Well sorry but this week was like Jan come early .Tuesday saw eight rod hires giving it their best ,we tried off shore in the deeper water and managed one cod of about 7lbs ,dog fish and whiting,There are some better fish there for the die hard anglers who want to sit it out but you could sit there all day and see all the action in half an hour .That be in the case I took the party inshore back to the river where we had another 6 cod, whiting and although smaller a lot more round the clock action.

Through the week as the tides decreased so did the weather Thursday was appalling with strong to gale westerly we saw a few fish inshore ,tried the regular marks without much success and ended up being blown across the river in a squall about 3.30pm that was enough for all concerned including the ships dog

Saturday was much the same ,with small tides and plenty of North Westerly we stayed up inside ,The ebb saw a few fish but once we came to the flood it was to say the least useless there was just no tide for at least two hours and with the sudden drop in temperature the fish were virtually non existent

Sunday we just had to try something different .wind fresh North West went just past the pier at Clacton Although the tides were on the first making tides we had little run ,we managed a few codling and smaller whiting then moved nearer the tripod area we had another three cod straight away ,no giants but if you wanted to they were keep able fish Then came slack water we had at least a two hour wait before anything else substantial came aboard .we ended the day with about a dozen coddling and a few whiting hopefully as the tides increase so will the fishing .regarding the skate don't think they'll come out till it warms up a bit or goes South Westerly .with this shallow water around our coast and the obvious cold water draining from the rivers I think we suffer more than the deep water areas .anyway lets see what happens with the rising tides and off course our unpredictable weather cheers dave
