weekending 28/08/2006

been quite a varied week this week Wednesday mixed party saw a few fish from the Barrows .mixed day with a few skate odd dog fish and one decent hound.Thursday we Tried another mark with some anglers from Bury st Edmunds .again had quite a mixed catch not the biggest skate in the world and many were returned but all those who wanted had skate to take home before once again the weather let us down ,It was Clacton air show we crept in to have a look it absolutely poured down many of the displays were cancelled. Friday Corporate trip, five anglers again plenty of skate and surprisingly the weather remained good .Saturday while others struggled we had a good day.Tally was 25 skate NO they were not all small many sizeable fish were kept, five smooth hounds[one of 11lbs and one of 10lbs both tagged and released] six baby tope, one dab and 4 dog fish. the drawback on being successful was being up tided at the end of the day by another local charter boat that should have known better IT WAS BLUE!!! Sunday we tried the same mark,no it was slow ,couple of skate few dog fish and small hounds, tried North a touch ,same depth all we saw were dog fish and one small bass.We decided to have another go for hounds ,conditions were not ideal fresh north westerly on a flood tide but yes we found a few.three doubles couple of smaller ones and some dog fish.so it seems they haven't all gone pity the weather isn't more settled ,out tomorrow and the rest of the week but once again they are forecasting wind?cheers Dave see you soon don't forget look at our history of catches and pick your times and book for 2007 asap before they all go, pick and mix? now
