Apologies for being late with the report but I don't make a habit of it ?anyway here we go Thursday Four adults Three children off we went in search of better things,We found a 8 skate in the Swin ,lots of dog fish and a few whiting but alas no cod .Twelve year old Charlotte Martin although suffering the dreaded sea sickness managed to boat her first skate on this her first boat trip. conditions deteriorated and we headed for the river for the ebb,Two codling straight away but the weed was bad,we moved to another mark out of the weed and managed a f Friday Regular anglers pete and son Phil from Braintree area and four individuals, two who hadn't been before. No slow old day, plenty of dog fish Three skate Small codling and whiting we went off a fair way as well ,east swin but not a lot for our troubles .On the ebb we moved inshore and managed a few whiting ,small codling but no not fast. Saturday Welcome back long lost angler Adam West, his dad and friends, last time Adam came with me was about 13 years ago with his dad and then as a junior angler he had a good skate. Based on what we had seen offshore we opted to stay closer .Clacton area we started east of the pier on the tripod we had a few codling ,pouting and dog fish on the flood but for the ebb I moved to a shallower mark west of the pier.In the shorter time we were there this really proved to be the most productive mark some keepers ,plenty of fish but no giants.and sorry Adam but no big skate.[maybe next time?] Sunday most boats cancelled but Good anglers diabolical forecast but we went? BEST DAY OF THE WEEK!!!!.The weed was horrendous but scale down on the tackle,no shock leaders to catch the weed ,short casts regular bait checks it worked. I don't know how many cod we had but over 30,obviously we didn't keep them all and were selective in our size but legally these were 30 keepers.kevin had one of 4lbs,3lbs and another couple 2lbs plus several others,Paul Coupin had a skate of about 5lbs plus four cod he could have kept, also caught were lots of good sized whiting. FOR THOSE WHO DONT LIKE FISHING THE RIVER let this be a lesson we fished in atrocious conditions ,not really rough but wet and strong southerly, the weed terrible but all caught reasonable fish,MORE AND BETTER FISH THAT WE GOT IN THE WALLET OFF CLACTON TODAY!!!!!. Not out much this comming week? but really we need the water temperature to drop hopefully this will kill off the weed and make fishing easier.Maybe bring in a few of the bigger ones cheers, we are tending to fish to 18 inch on the cod this year, when you look at the meat on these smaller so called legal sized ones they are better left till the spring .WE ALL WANT BIGGER FISH.CHEERS DAVE. I HAVE SPACES NEXT WEDNESDAY INDIVIDUALS AND SUNDAY 11TH ?
