weekending 2/9/2007

Things have started to slow down on the hound front, been quite busy this week and the results have been mixed as has the ever changing weather.  Monday bank holiday, few hounds but nothing spectacular, Wednesday mixed party two of the youngsters on board both had their first taste of smooth hound fishing.  Josh Gilbert aged 13 who fished with his father managed to open his account as did 10 year old James Aylott who managed his first hound of 9lbs.  Richard Hadlow had the biggest of the day a hound of 14.5lbs.

Thursday mixed party mixed fish, and of coarse mixed weather.  Three newcomers to sea fishing joined the fleet and caught skate, wasn't fast John Lucioni aged 15 had his first hound of 9.5lbs we topped up with a few mackerel and bass on feathers.  Friday Pete from Braintree fire station, cancelled last time due to the weather and this wasn't much better.  Uncomfortable should cover it, we  had a few skate and a couple of hounds and last knockings managed a few mackerel and bass on feathers.

Saturday new party from Bury st Edmund's area, good anglers and a bit of mixed, small tope, hounds, few bass and lots of mackerel as many as we've seen for a while.  Davd Friend managed one hound of 11lbs, while Steven Walmsey managed one of 10lbs.  Not the biggest fish of the year but respectable for this time of year.

Sunday Happy Birthday Patrick Mckenna [Alias Neil Smith] It was Patrick's birthday and we went for the hounds Think we ended up with about 15 for five anglers plus lots of mackerel.so not brilliant but we are still winkling out a few and coping with this crap weather,Think every one has struggled this week as things have slowed a bit but we did ok. cheers Dave Weaving.  Missed my trip to Rye last Tuesday but by all accounts missed nothing due to the weather.  Sundays party are off to Norway this week looks good but cold and the price of beer?  Staggering and the picture of Phill with his skate. No he hasn't got three legs
