week ending 30/7/2006 |
Been a busy week.and we've been reasonably lucky with the weather as well as the fish,I thought last weeks hound of 21lbs caught by new comer Ben Allen would be a tough one to beat it was but didn't realise how quickly it would happen.Sorry Ben but Friday night Shane Ashbey caught a fantastic female hound of 25lbs 2oz.The fish was taken at night in 35ft of water on hermit crab. His brother the bear put in a show the same night with a starry hound of 17lbs.Other noteable trips this week ,Monday a corperate date for Senate electrical. All caught and again up to 17lbs.Tuesday Graham Oliver captured a specimen of 19.5lbs again tagged and returned.Wednesday saw Dave German and party from Peterbourgh few fish though not quite as big.Thursday we had a few but noticeably smaller, and they switched off halfway through the tide.(you cant win them all)Friday another corperate day,it wasnt easy we tried three marks with little success ,few small bass and hounds .The last move was the bonus with all catching and the biggest of 17lbs going to a new comer. In at 4.30pm out again at 7.30pm fished through the night.Good fish but not loads. The best the biggy 25lbs 2oz. we did try other marks but for some reason the fish just dont seem to have ventured into the shallows as in previous years, could be the weather?came home at 4am back out at 7am again tried a few marks but ended up travelling 6 miles west where we found a few.Sunday?well afraid theweather caught up with us sorry, but we tried ,very rough and slow best fish of 10lbs near as dam it went to Steve Reason.I'd like every one to catch a fish like Shane's but just not possible.Thats fishing and what its all about we try ,you try better luck next time cheers dave .took me three hrs to do this page
