HAPPY NEW YEAR .We've got a mountain to climb to beat last years catches ,let's hope we get a bit more help from the weather It boils down to quite a few factors coming right,The anglers ,tides,weather and most importantly the fish.

Only two days to talk about last week the 28th,Golden Cod and the 29th.Not much to be said about the Golden cod,Raised £715.00 for the West Mersea lifeboat .The catches were very much down on what has been caught in the river of late and stuck inside on an unknown calm day with an extended slack tide wasn't the most inspiring day.

Now the 29th of course it blew a gale,predicted force 8 South westerly,having the benefits of being stuck in the river on the previous day I just had to find something more exhilarating, problem was of course the weather.While others who had had the benefit of fishing other marks the previous day choose to fish inside I opted for something different and I'm glad to say it worked .Seven Anglers,some of whom had helped raise the profile of the Jennad by their previous efforts. All caught. Matty christened his new rod and it was cod all round,13 fish up to 4.5lbs and one male skate for Taff of around 7lbs,few whiting and I believe only two dog fish and one dab.When you looked at the weather?well no one could believe we had gone off but in all honesty IT WAS FLAT CALM ALL DAY WHERE WE WERE,nicely tucked behind a sand bar.enough said we got the result.Two more trips to go hopefully we can pull off another result with this weather but who knows ,I will do another report but after that my next trip is Feb 25th.
