What a busy week and what catches?compare our reports to others?its been hectic to say the least and we ended up with a lot more than skate. The weather was a bit suspect up till wednesday but all came right in the end and even the bad days produced fish.
Monday Taff and the boys, confined to an inshore mark but it still produced .6 anglers and ten skate and every fish was a double, all females and all returned .
Tuesday Newcomers Mr Cousins from Norfolk staying the week at Waldergraves the weather was suspect but we again fished an inshore mark east of Clacton pier, just out of the wind we again produced .17 SKATE and all went back ,plus a few small cod and dog fish.Thnk they all enjoyed themselves and will be back?
Wednesday the worst of the weather BBC gave 5/6 mph winds ?REALITY FORCE 6 SOUTH EAST crazy!!!.But we went and made the most of it,considering the weather we scored ? 6 or 7 skate which when you saw the weather it was atrocious, two of the regulars Will and Patrick came again Sunday and we made up for it.
Friday five anglers my good old webb designer Sean, regular Paul Webb, visitor Tony Caddick and his 14 year old son Simon and new Island Resident Bernard Hart. They ALL TAGGED DOUBLE FIGURE HOUNDS!we also had one bass keeper and a couple of skate returned the weather was great so was the fishing. The total was about eight hounds plus the dog fish,Think the Caddicks got hooked on hound fishing.
Saturday regulars John Palmer Barnes WOT ONLY 4 AGAIN ?WE COULD HAVE FILLED THE BOAT.But there you go we went back to the same area and we had plenty of double figure hounds all tagged and released and in 15ft they do go well ,lost one big
tope and a very good bass, good news we had three others
to 6lbs and skate and dog fish
Sunday Will Amos and Patrick from Bures plus four,I had to improve on Wednesdays or at least try and I think we pulled it off. Thick fog we dropped our crab pot and off to another mark for a bit of feathering till the tide made.We had 50 bass and mackerel think that made amends for Wednesday. We kept about 18 between six anglers. We then headed East for a few smaller hounds and small tope and dog fish, tried the shallows ,more skate back to the deep water and more hounds ,tope and skate nothing giant. We started back and tried an old favorite mark of mine.Bingo 3 big hounds biggest 15lbs 8oz to Mike Turrell followed by another of 10lbs 5 oz then Patrick had his biggy a starry of 12lbs on the last cast. What a great week although the skate fishing has been great Its good having something else to show on site.Remember I can only show SOME on my catches this week but if any of you anglers want the pics that are or are not on here just mail me and I'll be happy to forward them to you cheers dave weaving Busy week next week 2/3 SPACES WEDNESDAY.
