Well this won't take long! managed to get out a few times this week and this can only be attributed to the enthusiasm of the anglers. The fish are there when and if you can get there .I still ache a bit !!! most of the anglers only do a day of it and I've sustained a week of it you guessed it WIND!!!! it just wont go away .I suppose We have to be thank full for the Geographic location we find ourselves in I don't think in all honesty many other boats round the country could have even tried this week and I don't know how with their overheads they can survive. This is how it went for us Monday bank holiday cancelled Force 8 South Westerly .Wednesday 3 anglers one in his seventies who had never been sea fishing and wanted to fulfill his whish of going .yes we went and caught .Skate and dog fish and ended up in the river for a few bass off the sewer pipe .Thursday being a bit bruised we stayed inside tried off Clacton in the wallet but too rough came inside for a few schoolies The good news is the fish have started to arrive in the river 3 codling !!! few eels ,pouting and whiting Pete's son caught the biggest of the codling. Not exciting but the next set of springs predicted to be flood threatening should push a few more in and better ones I hope .Friday I had a day off from fishing ,the Oyster Ceremony well not quite,I was round the Colne and saw a few birds working and couldn't resist chucking a lure at them.3 bass, then duties called .Saturday force 8 coming soon but we knew we could get the ebb in so off we went ,we had about 20 dog fish and a few skate biggest went to Jim Leader .high tide we made a run for it and tried inside but the wind was so strong it wouldn't let the boat turn against the tide, came in at 4pm, To show how strong the wind was My poor old dog was walking up the jetty with me,I turned round and she'd gone ?yes blown off by the wind lucky the tide was out she got blown in the mud and had to be hosed off before getting in the van .Sunday well I turned up so did the anglers,we could have fished the river for the ebb and given the next set of tides I would have been a bit more enthusiastic but we called it a day,Today Monday not out and you guessed it not a sign of any wind.If anyone wants to go this week I'm a bit slack so give me a call while its calm???cheers dave weaving
