week ending 4/6/06
Well what a week !half term and yes we've had some good fish and good results .Its great to see the younger newcomers getting the results and that was certainly the case on Thursday.Callum Madell 13 years old from Lavenham and Ben Yedmans also 13 from Great Wilbraham new they'd tangled with big fish I think Ben had the biggest a fish of twelve pounds and this was one of three There was certainly a lot of vocal support in his struggle to wind the fish in.Also boated were tope ,hounds and dog fish. Below are some of the pictures and they will be forwarded to all of the main magazines.for your best copy of the pictures mail me and I swill attach the photos and return .Friday saw a retirement/ Birthday present for John Felgate [happy 65th] and hopefully we gave him one to remember,The trip was arranged by his daughter Tracy Cutts and his Son and he was accompanied by his two 10 year old grandsons. We fished offshore and had everything including dabs and sole the only fish That eluded us was skate ,we moved inshore to round the day off and try and do a full house John got his whish and connected with a big female skate of 12lbs sadly his grandchildren had trodden on the landing net and with the reduced handle we struggled to net the fish ,The line parted and the fish started to return to the seabed Johns face said it all but gladly all was not lost it got tangled in one of the other lines and John accomplished his mission .Saturday we again saw a good variety of fish biggest hound of 9lbs went to John Palmer Barnes plus skate .Sunday the party wanted skate and we tried and eventually succeeded good start and excellent finnish. last cast five of the seven anglers reeled in fish the biggest a female of 12lbs2oz all pictured in a group photo and returned .Tope they have arrived and we have tagged but give it another week/ten days.It seems like a bit of one upmanship with all the other skippers chasing ghosts I've been in this game for some time now and have been fishing the grounds for some years, its not new.The water is clearing and I'm diving tomorrow by the end of the week the mackerel will be around and once they are here you will see significant changes in the fishing Then I'll go and do what I've been doing for years Its not the best initiation for beginners but it does get the adrenaline going and YES WE WILL BE TAGGING FOR THE UK SHARK PROGRAM. Cheers dave weaving
