week ending 6/5/2007 |
We've had such a good week this week I've started writing early, every one else cancelled but If you read what I predicted last week with the tides and the weather I got it right. Monday North east 5/6 but flood tide, great party of regulars,Clive peacock and friends from Bishop Storford area rod hire and some new to it we ended up with 11 skate to 9lbs dog fish small codling and whiting ,we got the flood , then moved and it worked all were happy. Tuesday Ray Fisher and friends from ACES club Southend,I warned them of the weather told them of previous days catch and 6 out of 7 were up for it.Yes we cracked it again force 6/7 a bit fresher but 14 skate to 13lbs ,biggest skate to Hugh Merry female released, also 5 small smooth hounds, not normally caught round this bit,dog fish whiting and after the flood we moved and caught a couple of quite big eels .Best Catch of the day was 78 year old Ray Athey who as well as dog fish small whiting ect also boated 5 skate. Wednesday 5 anglers again regulars the knew the score flood tide fish then ?well the first fish was a cod of 3lbs this was followed by another twelve skate to 16lbs caught by Charlie Yoxall of Loughton,John hall of woodford boated skate to 10lbs ,all females were released. It didn't end there ,ebb tide we moved, by now it was a definite 6/7 easterly so we sort comfort and another 6 skate.Total 18 skate to 16lbs.we got out all three days and did the buisness and no it wasn't that uncomfortable ,like I said last week you have to use the tides ,the wind and the area to your advantage which I think proved a point three days and every angler caught skate. You cant always get that in good conditions. Saturday Will Amos license of the eight bells at Bures + his regular five .Will might have christened his new light weight rod with 5 skate but I think Patrick had the two biggest both over 10lbs.Total 14 skate but dog fish never seen so many I think they doubled the bait bill ,Every cast someone had one ,The Weather still the same Strong North east flood tide ok tried on the bar for bass but only managed small codling. Sunday The weeks been to kind too me?I had 10 novices but before we started I picked up a mooring rope so it was a diving job before we even got started.after that frustration off we went to the same previous area, unfortunately the wind had shifted and increased to 4/5 South West, wind against tide .I had to shift so moved west and it was a struggle,we ended up with one casualty ,six skate and a hand full of dog fish . Next week not much on the weather looks unsettled but out friday and we have spaces cheers dave Weaving .
