well we certainly saw some changes this week ,mixed fishing .Thursday saw 5 die hard's braving not very nice conditions A strong South Westerly. We had about a dozen cod but small tides and winds hampered our attempts, we tried for skate but without success, most of the fish came from inshore marks. Friday what a difference weather wise and fish wise,we went back to a local mark off Clacton the weather was kinder but still a 3.7 meter tide. Two anglers fished the boat and fished four rods, between them they managed 35 codling to 5lbs all fish fell to squid or squid and lug cocktail and were very well conditioned fish. Saturday with yesterday in mind and conditions much the same we set off for the same mark, we had one as soon as we got there but then it just died ,total let down as soon as the ebb started all we caught was small stuff, with 5 anglers aboard and looking at the previous day it was nothing short of a disaster,we ended up with about 4 keepers and a load of smaller fish. Sunday what could we expect ,I dare not try the previous mark and decided to try another mark slightly to the North East .What a difference,a mile and a half .We had between 35/40 good sized codling up to 6lbs ,One Skate of 7lbs ,Dog fish and whiting, cant belive the difference .felt sorry for the previous party ,It seems that all the fish west of Clacton pier on the ebb were all of a similar stamp ,small. The problem is you really cant afford to be moving about on a small tide as the fish only really feed when it runs and you just lose valuable fishing time but there is also a limit to how long you can sit it out .Sunday we were spot on and it fished well right through all again coming on lug and squid.what we are doing now is to leave dates on photographs so you can see not only the dates they were caught but the times cheers dave
