weekending 9/9/2007 |
Sorry if we are a few hours late but celebrations were in order last night for my personnel best. I'll start with the rest of the week first,Tuesday a new party from Bishop Storford area first time sea fishing and we did manage to find them some Hounds biggest was for Mark Barber 15.5lbs ,keith Gates had one of 12.5lbs.nice fish quite late in the season.and a good introduction to sea fishing .Wednesday only three regulars John Hoy son Simon, and Charlie Peck.Obviously with less anglers we catch less fish but we managed mackerel smooth hound and skate,There have never been so many mackerel.Friday another new party Pat McAteer,Four anglers new to it and hoping, for action? It was a slow start, dog fish, mackerel then someone threw a switch and the hounds were there. We tagged quite a lot up to 12lbs for Pat with Tom and Steve wright also getting in on the action with double figure fish. I then gave them the option of something else and we moved half a mile to a bank where we managed three respectable skate and some small tope .Saturday regular party JP couldn't make it,so just six. Unlike previous days it just didn't happen we had a few small hounds ,tope and mackerel, it was a struggle everyone was moving about so it was wide spread. saying that the party ended the day with one of their most memorable days with over 100 bass and herring on feathers,a lot of herring were caught and quite a few of the bass were keepers so what started slow ended well. That was all down to the tides and my knowledge [or was it luck?],There weren't any birds working but I guessed they would be there and they were .Sunday six anglers. Due to the slow bottom fishing of the previous day I offered the party something different we went for tope?with all the mackerel about and small tope it was worth a try,on that score I failed but it was worth it for the bass when you have good anglers prepared to blank for good fish its always worth it! well it was for me I had my personnel best bass of 15lbs and Steve Button had one of 7lbs we also had skate ,dogfish and mackerel .I cant help thinking the tope are cruising about out there still ? but the bass certainly are. And yes the biggy went back .cheers dave Weaving .And word of Warning if the car parks full dont use the coast inn car park, its for their customers.
