Well weather stopped play most of the week again best we managed this week was the week end

Saturday 5/11/05 Yes firework day and number wise we had an explosive day unfortunately I left the camera at home .Weather fresh but fishable went to Jaywick area with a group from Maldon /Tiptree area Mick Whitley had the best numberwise on the day he managed 16 codling /lots of dog fish ,pouting and whiting ,Total catch for the day was 45 codling .although some were kept we exercised discretion ,many were between 12/14"in size and with the ones that only just made the limit were returned. biggest one of the day was 3.5lbs.We want to return as many of the smaller cod as possible but obviously we need to keep them alive .Photographed a picture of one of the best disgorgers I've come across .They used to be made in England but now come from Holland and can be ordered over the net.They take a bit of getting used to but save countless small fish and even work on deeply hooked skate.Penal rigs are sometimes a problem but not something I usually fish with They used to be called Valley discorgers

Sunday Bloody weather fished the river again strong gale force South Westerly .The tide was strong enough to hold us round against the wind . and although we did not manage the large number of coddling we had on the previous day we still managed four along with a good run of fair sized whiting ,dog fish and pout.six anglers fished in horrible conditions but we got out .WE CAUGHT FISH and that's what it's all about unfortunately we've got no control over the weather but luckily we can still get out and find a few unlike many other venues .Two of Sundays anglers have just purchased their own boat at Brightling sea, with safety in mind wish them well and good fishing ,if not they know where to find me. any way still a couple of spaces available this friday cheers Dave
